The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

The Test is conducted in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Applications and Electronic Science.

 

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) conducts the UGC-CSIR NET for Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences jointly with the UGC.

This test is conducted twice every year (June and December) for the award of Junior Research Fellowship and for for the appointment of lecturers in colleges.


Examination pattern:

  • Paper 1 is of objective type. This test is designed to test the candidate awareness in science, scientific and quantitative reasoning etc of the student. There is a negative marking.
  • Paper 2: It is subjective and subject oriented.
  • Paper 2 is evaluated if cut off is cleared in Paper 1
