Annual Contingency Grant

SA/SX/SB  - during 1st to 3rd years of - B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. / Integrated M.Sc. /M.S. Rs. 5000 Rs. 20000

SA/SX/SB  - during  M. Sc. / 4th to 5th  years of Integrated M.Sc. /M.S./M.Math./M.Stat. Rs. 7000 Rs. 28000

Summer Program for the KVPY Fellows is arranged at the Indian Institute for Science Education and Research (IISER) - Kolkata, Pune, Mohali, Bhopal, and Trivandrum for a week.

Each KVPY Fellow will be issued an Identity Card so as to have access to National Laboratories/ Universities who have agreed to extend special privileges like library, laboratory facilities, etc. to KVPY Fellows on production of the ID card.

Renewal/Continuation of fellowship
Annual renewal of fellowships will depend on the KVPY Fellows maintaining a good academic performance of first class (60% marks) or equivalent grade point average (50% or equivalent grade point average for SC/ST/PWD)  in science subjects in aggregate in each academic year in the first attempt. Students who failed to secure 60% marks or equivalent grade in a year (50% or equivalent grade for SC/ST/PWD) will forfeit the fellowship. However, in the subsequent year if they get 60% marks or equivalent CGPA (50% or equivalent CGPA for SC/ST/PWD) on aggregate over all the previous years, the fellowship will be renewed from that year. This is effective from 2012 awardees onward. The student is eligible to receive the KVPY Fellowship up to pre-PhD level or 5 years whichever is earlier.

In addition to the above, participation and satisfactory performance in the Summer Camp in the first year and Summer project every year thereafter is required for renewal of the fellowship.

KVPY Fellows who opt out of the basic science (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) stream at any stage will forfeit the Fellowship and Contingency Grant forthwith.

The fellowship for the students selected under the stream SA/SX/SB will be started after the XII Standard/ (+2) / I year UG, only if they pursue an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences, that are, B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Environmental Science or Geophysics.

What is KVPY Exam?KVPY means Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana . THis is conducted by IISc and provides scholarship to 11th and 12th class students. The exam is for science students. The details are given below. Exams conduct under KVPY

Basic Sciences

Stream SA: Students enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2017-18 and having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board examination. The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2019-20 after having secured a minimum of  60% (50%for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII standard/(+2) Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be invited for the National  Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and their travel and other related expenses will be met by KVPY.

ABOUT KVPY
The "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana" (KVPY) is a program started during 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India to encourage students of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these areas. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.

This program strives to assist the students to realises their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is developed for research and growth in the country. Generous scholarship and contingency grant is provided (up to the Pre-Ph.D. level) to the selected students.
In addition, summer programs for the KVPY Fellows are organised in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.
The KVPY is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The program is administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc, Bangalore), through the overall control of the Chief Executive (SID). The selection of students from those who are studying +1, +2, any U.G. Program including First/Second year Engineering/Medicine are carried out by IISc (Bangalore), IIT-Bombay (Mumbai), and ICMR (New Delhi), respectively, in association with two Zonal Centres one at Kolkata (Indian Institute of Science Education Research, Kolkata) and another at Mumbai (HBCSE, TIFR). There are special groups or committees set up at IISc, IIT and ICMR which screen the applications, conduct interviews at various centres, make the final selection and attend to follow-up matters.
The Department of Science and Technology - the nodal agency of the Government has entrusted the overall responsibility for organising the scheme to the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and set up a National Advisory Committee (NAC) for overseeing its implementation. A Basic Committee and a National Scientific Committee has been set up to monitor various aspects, both administrative and academic, of the KVPY Program.

Students are required to fill the form below, so that we can predict the expected cutoff. We will first upload the predicted cutoff after 3 days. And final cutoff after 1 week.
